Eight-time X Games gold medalist Travis Pastrana talks about his early rally car ambitions and his aspirations for the WRC circuit. He also walks us through his rally-spec Subaru WRX STi, fitted with chunky BF goodrich tires, a dog box tranny, Recaro seats, and loads of carbon fiber. Travis shares his personal rally car set-up, speaking about what he prefers when it comes to the front to back wheel power ratio, gearing, and suspension.

RG3 Suspension’s Travis Pastrana is one busy man. If he’s not speeding down some of the most narrow roads in the world in his Subaru Rally Car, Travis is flipping his dirt bike in some exotic location, or doing something insanely nuts for the camera’s as they film for his hit television show, Nitro Circus, which you can find on MTV. Pastrana is one of the, if not, the most recognizable name in the action sports industry and, really, in general, too (one way or another, everybody has heard of Travis Pastrana). Well, we were thankful enough to catch up with RG3′s Pastrana this week in Southern California to sit down and talk about the Nitro Circus, X Games, his RG3 Suspension, racing, rally cars, his plans for 2010, and much more. Check out exclusive in-car point-of-view video of Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana sliding to victory at the 2010 SnoDrift Rally, Round 1 of the 2010 Rally America National Championship! The Sno*Drift Rally was held on over 130 miles of snow and ice-covered roads in northern Michigan. The forest roads were a virtual skating rink after recent warm weather melted the snow cover which then refroze this past week, leaving the roads covered in a thick sheet of ice. Rally America rules prohibit the use of spiked or studded ice-tires, placing a high premium on traction. Pastrana, the defending four-time Rally America National Champion, won by over one minute and thirty seconds driving an open class rally specification 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. In an amazing show of determination and grit, Pastrana completed the event nursing an extremely sore collarbone which he broke in a motocross accident less than a week ago. Calling the stage notes is Pastrana’s long time co-driver Christian Edstrom.

Travis will attempt to shatter the world record for distance jumping in a car at the Pine Street Pier in Long Beach’s Rainbow Harbor.
Subaru Rally Team USA – XGames 13 – Travis Pastrana
Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana and co-driver Christian Edstrom won the Bronze medal in the X Games 13 Rally Car Super Special event. Pastrana, driving his BFGoodrich Tires-shod 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI missed out on a shot at the Gold while challenging Hollywood stunt driver and Rally America competitor Tanner Foust. Pastrana crossed the finish line first, but was disqualified for crossing over into Tanner’s lane. The crowd and the SRT USA team members erupted in celebration at Pastrana’s victory before hearing minutes later that race officials would disqualify Pastrana for the crossing into Foust’s lane. “I was really happy with how we drove, and our Subaru and BFGoodrich Tires were amazing,” he said in the paddock, bent and bruised rally cars everywhere. “Look at these cars. It was demolition derby out there. I drove my best and still crossed the line first. It was the wrong line, though! But they made the right call. It made for a good show I bet, but after winning the Gold last year, taking home Bronze this time around is hard to swallow.”
