Dawn of the Dead (Zombi) – Italian Soundtrack – Part 3
The entire original soundtrack to the other version of George Romero’s ‘Dawn of the Dead’, known by the title ‘Zombi’ (1978). This European cut was edited under producer Dario Argento’s supervision. It concentrated more on the action while Romero’s version had more character development in it. This version was a bit shorter but also contained footage that Romero did not use. Tracks, English translation & length: #7 La Caccia (The Hunt) (3:38) #8 Tirassegno (Shooting) (2:51) #9 Risveglio (The Awakening) (1:04) #10 Sexy (2:20) Track 7 was used three times in the American cut. First in the scene where the main characters move the trucks in front of the mall entrances, then when Roger is being pushed in the wagon by Peter after being bitten and finally in the scene where Roger drives the Volkswagen Scirocco through the aisles. In the European cut it was used in none of these scenes but rather earlier when Roger and Peter first broke into the mall and later when Stephen followed them. La Caccia is my favorite song from this album. Track 8 is the theme for the rednecks and army personnel that shot zombies for fun. It replaced the song ‘CAUSE I’M A MAN by The Pretty Things which Romero used. Track 9 plays when Francine gets out of bed at the furniture department as the sun rises.
