2007 Subaru WRX STI Spec C Type RA-R by Inside Line

Can you imagine being in the product-planning office in Subaru City when the order came down to build the 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C Type RA-R? Right, no more pussyfooting around with half-baked attempts at creating the ultimate WRX STI. Go all-out. Create a car that can be thrashed at the track, but can still be driven home.

great car, either way. =] wish i had that set up on my rex. those brakes are sweetness.

  7. RossLH says:

    Fair enough.

  8. Drektek says:

Yeah, i’ve seen that before. Like I was stating, it’s not that I don’t believe them, but until I see otherwise on a Subaru site (and by Googling the”what does wrx stand for) and seeing Cross show up, i think I’m going to stick with that answer.

  9. RossLH says:

A few people on NASIOC have written to SOA on the topic, and all have gotten the same reply.

  10. Drektek says:

I was never able to find anything on the Subaru site or from FHI. Since the Rally site is a part of Subaru’s site, i’ll take their word for it until I see otherwise.
Not arguing, I just know what i’ve read from a Subaru site.

  11. RossLH says:

The Rally USA Team saying X stands for Cross is one thing, but FHI and STi (who engineered, designed, and built the car) as well as SOA (who sells the car to the American market) all say it stands for the mathematical symbol of the unknown. The Rally team just drives them. Not sure why you’d take their word over the official word.

  12. Drektek says:

Don’t know why my comments are not showing up. But do a Google search for Subaru Rally Team USA, then click on Cars, the WRX. There you’l see where they mention Cross.
I used to think the X stod for variable as well until i saw this site.

  13. RossLH says:

Looked further into it after seeing your comment, turns out we’re both wrong. According to FHI and STi, and further confirmed by SOA, the X stands for the mathematical symbol for the unknown.
